The 2024 Swiss Challenge was held at Golf Saint Apollinaire, Folgensbourg, France and saw Novellus sponsored player Euan Walker take home the trophy.
Scotland’s Euan Walker achieved his second win on the Challenge Tour at the 2024 Swiss Challenge. He shot an impressive score of -9 in the event, two shots clear of Kristoffer Retain and Bradley Bawden who tied for second.
“It feels absolutely amazing. It feels like this week I am back on track again and playing close to my best and I really played beautifully (this week). My goal is the same every time, just to try and play the best that I can. At one point I was tied 3rd place, and I thought if I make a couple of birdies I’m in a position to win the competition, and sometimes you play a round where things go your way. Some of the putts I’ve been missing I was able to just roll them in and make no mistakes.
I’ve just tried to keep refocusing, it’s easy to get down and think you’re not playing well. Every golfer gets those feelings…there’s a lot of other really good players and it’s quite difficult to deal with it. I try my best to keep refocusing and tell myself that I can do it. Now I will go to the next two events in China with confidence and go for my third year in Majorca. Hopefully it’s third time lucky this year.”
Billy McManus, CEO of Novellus Group, said:
“We are delighted for Euan Walker. He’s come agonisingly close to a full DP World Tour card in each of his last two seasons (one season it came down to a single shot across the year!). In order to win any golf event, you need a little bit of luck and to take advantage of the circumstances and he absolutely did that today with a fantastic bogey free -6, after the event was cut short to 36 holes.
We know just how much effort and commitment goes into playing elite sport and just how deserved this win is. Hopefully, the momentum from this win will help propel him towards the main tour and give him a chance to test his game at the next level.
As a company, we are proud to play a small supporting role on his journey.”
The Road to Majorca takes place in the Czech Republic on the 2nd – 5th October and we can’t wait to continue supporting Euan on the remainder of his 2024 season and beyond.
